“City of Wonder,” the Facebook social strategy game by Playdom that knowingly and unthinkably qualifies as the most played and popular alternative of the summer, starts with a mysterious music that seems derived from Ancient Egypt. And the game takes on the unorthodox social network gaming while presenting a Egyptian background plot with comic series characters. Learned from what the traditional browser games possess, City of Wonder offers us a tsunami of features like City Empire building, well structured skills and flash-based animation. All that makes City of Wonder become one of the hottest title on Facebook even the developers did not spend a cent to advertise the game.
Sound / Music
Unlike other music of social games on facebook, City of Wonder gives users a mysterious and melancholy feel instead of jaunty and merry beat. If you ever played Egypt Expedition, you may be very familiar with City of Wonder’s music and get used to it like your hometown, or countryside music.
GamePlay:
No matter how hard the social gaming companies work, they cannot throw off the predetermined, Habitual or established practice, that is, make a little change based on the already-surfaced codes, which is evidenced by Verdonia, and social City. To be simple, you will be given some social options to construct and build the key buildings that will help you keep people or citizen comfortable and agreeable. By ruling the citizens, you will let me do some social activities, like research, interactive, military, and diplomatic affair.
I am a big fans of browser games , so I’d like to have a full screen game to play in my web browser, not in the limited room, which makes me feel crowded, short of being massively multiplayer.
Graphics:
the majestic and magnificent scenes tweet a lot of browser-based MMOPRG games, like Evony, Three Kingdoms, and WW2 Warfare, however, these games takes on the adult’s interest instead of City of Wonder’s Mytical and athletic comic styled graphics and artworks. From the ingame tutorial guide, to the city’s infrastucture, to the heroes, they all look uncanny, yet engaging, charming yet devious. Chances are, that is dedicatedly tailored to Facebook Player’s needs. In a word, I love the graphics and they do contribute a lot of innovations to the game.
Virtual Items:
City of Wonder follows the basic Asian MMORPG’s payment mode through which players are required to spend real money on gaining some ingame featured items that would boost and speed up player’s city building, research, fighting power, and ultimately let players become a genuine lord. Such free to play, yet micro transaction payment model had a bad rap in recent years, especially for those who are fond of playing World of Warcraft, City Heroes and Age of Canon. In pay to player’s words, free to play games are nothing but crappy more than any other games.
Conclusion:
This is one of the amazing games in my recent memory. The loading screen reminds you of driving a carriage, and struggling to charge forward or escape. But once you login the game, you will be fascinated by the ingame music and animations. The detailed and well designed interface and tutorial would never let me get lost in the game. It is a very addicting game that would qualifies the best facebook social game in 2010.
